Eyelash lift instruction for beginners (1)

Although the product manual provides the basic steps, a successful eyelash lift also requires knowledge of technical operations and the principles of perming.

In this article today, I will share with you the structure and growth process of the eyelashes to help you better understand some of the issues we need to be aware of before we lift our eyelashes.

The structure and growth process of the eyelashes

Structure of the eyelashes.

Eyelashes are made up of a hair follicle, a hair shaft and a hair tip. Eyelash perming changes the shape of the eyelashes, making them curl upwards. Before performing a lash perm, it is important to understand the structure and health of the client's lashes to determine if they are suitable for this service.

Eyelash growth process.

Growth phase : This is the active phase of eyelash growth and lasts 4-6 weeks. During this phase, the cells in the hair follicle begin to divide and grow, driving the lashes outward.

Catagen: This phase lasts about 2 weeks, when the growth of the eyelashes stops and the hair follicle begins to degenerate. During this process, the hair shaft gradually becomes shorter and detaches from the hair follicle.

Telogen: This phase lasts about 4-6 weeks and the hair follicle stops growing and degrading. During this process, new lashes begin to form at the base of the follicle and gradually grow outward while the old ones gradually fall out.
The growth process of eyelashes

The growth cycle of eyelashes is about 3 months, so you need to make sure your client's eyelashes are in the growth phase before getting a lash perm to ensure results.

How to distinguish between the growth phase and the resting phase?

Observe the length of the lashes: During the anagen phase, the lashes continue to grow and become longer, so the length of the lashes during the anagen phase will be longer than during the resting phase. If you notice a constant change in the length of your lashes, then you are probably in the anagen phase.

Observe the density of the lashes: During the anagen phase, the lashes continue to grow and become longer, so they will have a higher density than during the resting phase. If you notice an increase in lash density, then you are probably in the anagen phase.

Observe the condition of the lashes: During the resting phase, lashes stop growing and start shedding, so they may be more prone to shedding, dryness and breakage. If you notice that your lashes are not in good condition, then you may be in the resting phase.

Timing: Lashes grow in a cycle of about 3 months, with the growth period lasting about 4-6 weeks, the transition period lasting about 2 weeks and the resting period lasting about 6-8 weeks. So if you already know the growth time of a particular lash, you can calculate which growth phase it is in.

In general, the eyelash growth cycle is a dynamic process, with the growth phase, transition phase and resting phase switching between each other. Knowing the growth cycle of your lashes can help you take better care of your lashes' health and make better decisions for your beauty services.
